FRASER HALL When the Board of Regents announced plans for the destruction of Fraser Hall last year, many students and alumni protested that the building, a landmark on the KU campus since its construction in 1872, should be restored for the sake of tradition and history. Commencing in August, the razing operations revealed that Fraser was danger- ously deteriorated. The timbers were so rotten that they broke in two as they were dismounted. When the walls were hit, the fill, plaster, and dry mortar shattered, disintegrating into great clouds of dust which covered the entire eastern end of the campus for several minutes. The rubble of pow- dered fill and decayed timbers served as mute testimony, even if restored, Fraser would not have survived another academic year. ' if.-s. -xy. : hu. N. ,. .
