As the week progressed. Templin Hall nightly was translormed into a congested area of htxilfllllillg faces and reluctant larewells. date, rushees who are preferred hy the individual houses are hrought together in order to give the rushee an overall pieture of what the house and its new pledge class will look like. Many ol the dinners were held outside ol' lawrence, at Topeka or Kansas City. Others were simply held at the fraternity houses. For all n1en who did not attend one ol the fraternity Train Dates, the IFC held a Train Date at the Union with representatives lrom all fraternities present to talk with the rushees. The next day, September Elth, the rushees eaeh vis- ited six dillerent, houses. They viewed many changes ill tl1e KU fraternities including a newly Completed Phi Psi house and an addition to the Sigma Phi lfpsi- lon house completed last spring. The rushees were told ol' the many Greek aeeoni- 10 At each house the rushee was personally Illel with a lriendly smile. an extended arm. and another nametag. plislnnents ol' the past including scholarship, Rock Chalk, intramurals, and the 111ultitude olf positions held hy Creeks in the various KU activities. More important, however, the rushees were told ol' the lra- ternities' plans lor the luture, plans lor an ever in- creasing emphasis on scholarship, plans lor additions to many ol' the houses. and many more, all plans to make fraternity men prouder ol' their alliliation with hoth their lraternity and their sehool. XVhen the talking was over, 295 more men were wearing pledge pins ol' a KU lraternity, hringing the total numher ol men pledged to 555. The pledges could look lorward to a husy year. There was a great deal ol' work to he done and numerous goals to attain: goals lor their houses, goals lor the University, and most important. goals lor themselves.
