Traditional congratulations go to Queen Susie Schwab following her crowning at the Roger Miller concert. Purple pride in bloom during Homecoming ' 67 Pride and purple power bloomed across the campus to the theme of Everything ' s Coming Up Purple for 1967 Homecoming. The week ' s activities included the Roger Miller concert in Ahearn Field House and the K-State Players production Never Too Late, starring Academy Award winner Ed Begley. House decorations for Homecoming featured special sound and lighting effects. Winners of the overall decorations competition were Delta Delta Delta and Sigma Nu. First places went to Alpha Xi Delta and Phi Kappa Theta and second place winners were Gamma Phi Beta and Sigma Chi. In independent competition, winners were Smith Scholarship House and Putnam hall. University tradition includes Mortar Board ' s annual mum sales for Parents ' Day and Homecoming football games. Proceeds were used to publish a booklet for the Graduate School, distributed throughout campus.

Arts and Sciences tops fall enrollment increase Enrollment received a boost, with the fall se- mester showing a total of 11,755 students, an in- crease of 470 over the previous fall enrollment. All colleges recorded an increase of students, with the College of Arts and Sciences leading enroll- ment figures with 4,401, followed by Engineering with 1,232, Agriculture with 1,205 and Home Economics with 1,131. Graduate School enroll- ment also increased to 1,460. All colleges record- ed a drop in enrollment for the spring semester, with total enrollment down approximately 1,400. The biggest drop came in Arts and Sciences. Student enrollment for the spring was the smoothest recorded in the University s history. Most students with schedules meeting all require- ments filled out information cards, picked up grades, paid fees and received their semester class schedules in less than 30 minutes. Stopped by an IBM punched-out hole, a student con- siders how to fit her nam e into the space provided. Students pay mo re than $2.5 million in fees to the University during the three-day enrollment period. After registration comes the grueling task of buy- ing stacks of books needed for class assignments. 21

During Homecoming previews, Diane Crostarosa ap- pears in response to Captain Vince ' s plea for someone to head the growing University pride campaign during a scene from Putnam ' s skit The Good Ship KSU. Approximately 2.250 persons attended Roger Miller ' s Homecoming concert of country and western music. Transforming their yard into a Valley of the Jolly Purple Giant, Sigma Nus took the men ' s grand prize. 23
