Sporting a new fall outfit, a fashion board member introduces campus-wear to freshmen students at a Union-sponsored fashion show. The event is one of the most popular features of Orientation Week. Parents learn of college at orientation sessions Helping parents gain a realistic outlook on col- lege life and the experiences students face, a summer parent orientation program was planned in connection with freshman pre-enrollment. In the fall, freshman orientation included special sessions on subjects chosen by freshmen , includ- ing learning and study procedures, military serv- ice obligations, budgeting and career planning. Weekly freshman seminars continued into the year and brought out problems facing the college freshman. At the annual convocation, President McCain was introduced to new students. Activities such as the Union kick-off dance and a fashion show with psychedelic music and paint- ings highlighted orientation week. Climaxing the week, the Freshman Talent Show introduced acts ranging from musical solos to comedy routines. Waiting hands accept melons and forks at the Man- hattan Chamber of Commerce watermelon feed. 19

Boasting record sales of more than 7,750 books and approximately 8,000 class pictures, the 1968 Royal Photo by Perry Riddle Purple increased by 16 pages, featuring twice the number of color pictures in previous editions. Freshmen and new students make an extra stop in en- rollment lines for the official transcript snapshot. 20
