Photographers appraise members ' color slides At meetings of Kappa Alpha Mu, photographic journalism society, members selected their own color slides to be seen and appraised. Participants in a high power color session presented new ideas on a dye transfer color process to the group and other members brought new photography tech- niques for group experimentation. Muslim students gather for prayer each Friday Uniting Muslim students on campus, the Is- lamic Association sponsored Friday prayer meet- ings at All-Faiths Chapel to promote the practice of Islam. At regular meetings, guests spoke on Economic Systems of Islam and Islam and Its Basic Principles. ' In the spring, members pre- sented an informative program about Islam on radio station KMAN and also published a month- ly newsletter, Al-Islam, for all members. Judo Club ranks high in Midwest tournaments Practicing twice each week, the 35 members of Judo Club, with Clifford Kumamoto as president, learned judo skills and perfected techniques for competition. Club members participated in Mis- souri Valley and Midwest Regional tournaments, in which they took individual honors with two first place finishes and four second place finishes. Iranians display slides, artwork from native land At regular meetings of the Iranian Student Association, members saw films about their native country and slides from a Peace Corps volunteer who had been in Iran for two years. Organized on campus five years ago, the group set up a booth at the fall Activities Carnival, at which they dis- played slides, artwork and handcrafts from Iran. Other activities included Saturday volleyball games for members and their guests, and an an- nual picnic at which Persian food was served. Methodist women mend, give clothes to orphans Programs at weekly meetings of Kappa Phi, Methodist women s group, included speeches by Associate Dean of Students Walt Friesen and several campus ministers. Kappa Phis caroled and decorated the wards at Irwin Army Hospital while visiting patients there and donated and mended sweaters to send to orphans in Korea. At club meetings, thegroup showed educational films on Latin America and discussed governmental developments in educa- tion in South and Central America.
