Senators Co-ordinate Academic Standards To correlate academic probation and dis- missal standards with graduation require- ments, the Faculty Senate increased mini- mum grade standards by .2 to .3 of a grade point based on credit hours attempted. The program also required the establishment of academic standards committees for the Uni- versity and each of the seven colleges. The increase effected new students in June, 1964. With a revision of the constitution, the Senate membership was changed to include only faculty members below the rank of department head. Each college and school elected representatives for three-year terms. The Senate represented the faculty in ap- proving candidates for degrees and made r ecommendations to the Board of Regents concerning changes and development in cur- riculums and courses. The Senate approved new doctor of philosophy programs in the areas of economics, history and nuclear engi- neering and dealt with traffic control.
