Industrial Engineers Initiate New Chapter Established on campus last fall following the ac- crediting of the Department of Industrial Engineer- ing was a student chapter of the American Institute of Industrial Engineers. The 58-member chapter was led by Patrick Noud, president, and Arthur Carson, faculty sponsor. Outstanding guest speakers were brought to meetings to promote study and discus- sion of job opportunities in the field. Ag Engineers Serve At Departmental Day Serving refreshments at Agricultural Engineering Day in the fall and setting up a display for the En- gineers ' Open House were two activities of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers. Directed by President Olin Vanderslice and Faculty Advisor John Funk, the 40-member society heard profes- sional speakers from the field at weekly meetings. Aerospace Scientists Visit Aircraft Center Monthly films showing institutions concerned with aerospace science were sponsored by the K-State chapter of the Institute of Aerospace Sciences. All engineering students were invited to view the films. The club visited the Boeing Aircraft Company in Wichita and sponsored an exhibit at the Engineer ' s Open House. Guest speakers were invited to speak at the club meetings. Robert Hart was president of the group and Wilson Tripp was faculty advisor. Visiting Prof Speaks At Physics Program An outstanding program of the American Insti- tute of Physics was a talk given by Dr. Tibor Rado, a guest professor in the math department. Rado spoke- on the Respective Roles of Intuition in Ingenuity. Fall and spring picnics were other highlights of the year for the 50-member club. Charles Prevo guided the group as president and F. W. Crawford served as the faculty sponsor. Membership was open to all students interested in the field of physics.

Collecting materials for the Sketch Pad booklet, mem- bers of the AIA make ready for their first publication. Architects Contribute To Egyptian Temples A financial contribution was made to UNESCO this year by the K-State student chapter of the American Institute of Architects which will assist with the preservation of ancient Egyptian temples that were built more than 3,500 years ago. The Sketch Pad was published by AIA mem- bers for the first time. The new monthly publication was distributed to K-State architectural students and alumnae in the Kansas City area. Club members also wrote and distributed the Sharette, a publication which was published quarterly and sent to all archi- tecture schools in the Big Eight Conference. Outstanding architects and the president of the Kansas City AIA chapter were invited to speak at club meetings. Members also took a field trip to Kansas City in the fall to visit buildings which had received architectural awards from the Kansas City AIA chapter. The 125-member organization spon- sored the annual Beaux Arts Ball in January. Homer Williams led the activities of the club as president and Alden Krider was faculty sponsor.
