5 K Was it only yesterday? How vividly we recall the loading of cargo, the last minute chipping and painting before getting underway. The muted clusters of family members and loved ones in the parking lot on that gray, overcast day, fighting back tears. The postponing of good-byes until the very last minute. Manning the rails in our Whites, and the staccato Underway! of the Boatswain Mate of the Watch. Was it only yesterday? The ports and the pit stops, the places we've seen! From the 50th Anniversary D-Day celebrations in Plymouth and Brest, to refueling and stores onloads at Augusta Bay. From an IMAV in Souda Bay that turned out to be a precursor to an IMAV in Palermo that never happened. From the quaint island of Mykonos to the leather g bazaars of Antalya and the Persian carpet merchants of Dubai. Two round trips through the Suez Canal - from the Med to the Red and back to the Med again, twice! From Rota in June to Rota in November. Was it only yesterday? The friends we made and the shipmates we miss. Captain Fahy Master Chief f BINC1O! J Dobler, Chief Shepherd, Mr. Cabrera, Chief Dollar, and Seaman Thigpen, to whose memory this cruise- book is dedicated. May this cruisebook bring back those yesterdays and more. For as Shakes- peare once wrote, upon these memories of yesterday are all our tomorrows founded . S
