California he reported to VA-22 in December 1972. During two extended deployments to WESTPAC in USS CORAL SEA CCVA-431. he participated in Operation Frequent Wind, the evacuation of Saigon. and rescue operations for the SS MAYAGUEZ. ln July 1975 he reported to VT-9 as LSO and Standardization Officer. ln December 1976 through May 1979 he served as an instructor at the Naval Academy. and earned his Masters Degree in Administration from George Washington University. Captain Fahy next reported to Commander, Carrir A' Wing SEVENTEEN embarked in USS FORRESTAL tCV-591, completing two extended deployments to the Mediter- ranean. He next reported to VA-105 as a department head embarked in USS CARL VINSON CCVN-701 for the in- augural around the world cruise. as well as a first-ever deployment of a Navy A-7E squadron with the Fleet Marine Pacific at MCAS lwakuni. Japan from June through December 1984. ln April 1985. he reported to Commander. Tactical Wings Atlantic, as Operations Ofticer. ln May 1987. he ------' 7 reported as Executive Ofticer ot' VA-46 and assumed command in November. 1988. Captain -a y '1 Commander, Carrier Air Wing SIX in May. 1990. Following participation in Opera- tion Provide Comfort while embarked in USS FORRESTAL. he detached in July 1991 for assignment as a student at the Naval War College. Newport. Deal Rock aptain Deal has had assignments in six Fighter Squadrons making three Western Pacific! lndian Ocean deployments and four cruises to the MediterraneanlNorth Sea. He com- manded the Jolly Rogers of Fighter Squadron Eighty-Four for one of those Med deployments. His last sea duty assignment was as Operations Officer of the USS-ABRAHAM LINCOLN taking this carrier from final construc- tion at Newport News through South American transit. airwing integration. and first deployment to the Western Pacific!Persian Gulf. Shore assignments included Assist Chief Test Director with VX-4 fFighter Weapons and Tactics Test and Evalua- tionj, Assistant Engineering Director for the F-I4 at NAVAIRSYSCOM, and Executive Officer of the F-I4 Fleet Replacement Squadron at Oceana. He was last assigned to USACOM as head of joint task force peace operations training. Florida. but now calls Brevard, North Carolina, where his parents live. his home. He graduated from Winter Park High in 1972 and after completion ol' his Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Appalachian State University in 1979, was commissioned through Oflicer Candidate School in July, 1980. His sea tours include USS MILLER KFF-10911 as Auxiliaries and Electrical Officer, Navigator on board USS CALOOSAHATCHEE CAO-981. and Department Head tours on the USS DETROIT KAOE-41 as the Operations Officer, and USS MOUNT WHITNEY CLCC-201 as First Lieutenant. SHORE tours inclttde FACSFAC VACAPES, as the Operations and Schedules Ollicer, the Naval and Marine Corps Reserve Center in Wichita, Kansas as Commanding Officer, and Assistant Chiel' of Staff for Operations and Plans, Commander. US Naval Forces. Marianas.
