CHILDRENS CHRISTMAS PARTY r While in Toulon, France, KALAMAZOO sponsored a Christmas Party for 25 children from three or- phanages in Toulon. At first both sailors and chil- dren were quite shy. But as time pressed on, both became equally responsive. Ice Cream, cookies and candy were a big hit with the kids, but perhaps the biggest was the kazoos that were handed out. The words to a Christmas carol were different, but the melody was not. Hums of Jingle Bells were heard through the Dining Facility. Our Santa (BMl JAMES HARTLE) was also a popular attraction. As all came up to sit with Santa and presents were handed out, the smiles started appearing. What looked like a simple lonely Christmas turned into one of the most memorable.
