Their first goal was to win a first division trophy in the Festival of Nlarching Bands, but along the way they detoured for the Aloha Week Parade. The band worked hard for just one week in preparation for the event. Even though a minimum amount of time was alloted, they marched and finished the parade with a first division trophy. They also succeeded in capturing the largest number of competitive points. After this event they went back to working on the half-time show, perfecting what they had taken from the homecoming show and learning new formations. All their hard work paid off on the night of November 24th. The band put on a terrific show and again took a first division. Because of their great performance, the band was offered the opportunity to go to Chicago to attend classes in marching and to take part in the National Nlarching Band Competition. Nlost of the cred- it should be given to IVlr. Payton and his as- sistant lVlr. Garrigan for helping the 1 976-77 Nlarching Band attain their remarkable acheive- ments. The pledge of alligience, mid-morning snacks, music festivals, May Day, U's, S's, and E's on our report cards, napping, and of course lunch are among the many memorable events of grade school!! Besides constructing floats we built stronger relationships. Just getting to know each other proved easy for such a sociable class. Terrific years were our 10th and 11th grades! More events were held and added to our activity roster. An opening social, sponsored assemblies, picnics, stageband dances, a sophomore lounge, t-shirts, Christmas caroling, and bake sales were among these additions. Again we entered float competition and placed! lSecond, in 10th grade and first, in 11th gradel. Throughout these eleven years we ex- perienced successes and failures, both of which developed through our seasons of change as we began our spectacular senior year. . . . . . . . , EXPERIENCES OF OUR PAST AID US TO. . .
