Class History We the Class of 76 in order to form a more perfect school, establish spirit, insure domes- tic chaos, provide for the Dragon defense, promote the average report card, and secure the blessings of our presence at Junction City Public School, mel in class in the year 1964. The beginners of this high spirited class were Nancy Booth, Judy Cook, Mike McWhirter, Randy Hammett, Janice Wood, Becky Peace, Donna Pepper, Clarence McLelland, Mike Bryant, Susan Anderson, Cindy Bryan, Danny Cole, Helen Otwell, Ronald Courtney, Terri McGoogen, Brent Wilson, Jackie Sweet, Ty Peace, Doug Rocket, Jon Fish, Johnny Caldwell, Kathy Hightower, Terry Lewis, Jimmy Dolden, and Sharon Spooner. The second grade was the year that Mike Mc. had a crush on all those cute little girls, espe- cially Janice W. and Nancy B. He chased them but wouldn't catch them for long because Helen Ann would come to their rescue. In the third grade we added Nancy McCray from Tulsa, Oklahoma. We don't know what we would do without her mouth at the pep rallies. Remember Kissa Mama CHelen O.J, Snake Mama CNancy B. J, and Hippo Mama fEllen HJ? In the fifth grade we caught up with Ray Cates. From the big city of Ruston, La . came Glynn Funderberk to join our gang. We never had a peaceful day afterward and neither did Mrs. Wal- ler's classroom garden. Remember the song we used to sing to the tune of Camptown Races? Who's got the . . . and the way Mrs. Waller ate banana bikes and drank cokes while we starved and looked pathetic. Then came the sixth grade when everybody in Mrs. Neil's room got sent to the office. That year George Lockey waited for us to catch up and Karen Thurlkill from Twenty-nine Palms, CA. plus Jamie Sherman came from Camden, Ark. and joined our happy group with their gigantic mouths. In the seventh grade Clarence Ritchey swam up the Mississippi from New Orleans to join us. More additions were Carolyn Brown, Willie Curry, Ola Faye Davis, Glen Elmore, Larry Fra- zier, Donnie Hoff, Robert Malone, Lonnie Lowrey, Charles McClelland, Eddie Meeks, Victor Moore, Debra Montgomery, Alice Noble, Mark Scott, Eugene Smith, Lenore Steward, Doro- thy Tubbs, and Carolyn Willis. Our eighth grade year was full of excitement! Being the oldest in grade school had its advan- tages. We were able to push the little kids around and get by with a lot more. That year came James Williams from Mount Holly to add to the confusion. Such as: Remember the enjoyment we got out of listening to the Robert Goulet records in Mrs. Farrar's room every Christmas, while she was drinking what appeared to be Dr. Tischner's and washing her hands? Remember the way the boys always mopped Mr. Sims Room after the girls flushed the john and flooded the room? From Meghee, Ark. came Trigg Jacobs bouncing in during Dual State to cause more trouble our freshman year. Our girls really knocked over those high school boys! Jamie and Ricky, Nancy and Mike, Judy and Stan, Nancy and Les all hopelessly captured! By the end of the year we finally got into the swing of high school life. g From ElDorado came Vicky Bryan, now Vicky Ham since she captured Tom the first time he saw her. And from Ulysses, Kan. came Karen Parker, the short kid with the big mouth who went on to become editor of our 1976 Dragon Annual. This was the year Mrs. Ratcliff almost had a nervous breakdown because of Jamie Sherman and her wild desire to take her typewriter apart, although she could never quite put it back together. Our Junior year we got a thrill with the arrival of Sherry Cessna, from ElDorado. The mean gang of Karen T. , Jamie and Donna grew more hostile after the addition of Sherry. Also from Shreveport came Lynn Hayes to aid the Dragon football team. We did win an extra game that year!
