Administration directs way I take special joy and pride in welcoming all of you to .Iudson's 50th year. Judson was founded in 1928 on what was 'then a most rugged, remote part of the West. Its philosophy was to offer sound academics, small classes, and a healthful way of life , and opened with 8 boys. When I first came to Judson in 1938, I taught every subject-math, Latin, physics, history, english-and when the bell rang, I saddled up the horses to take the boys for the daily trail ride around Camelback Moun- tain. Henry C. Wick, III, Director Weekends were spent on campus or on camping trips, riding back to school in time to crank up the ice cream machine for Sunday luncheon. The school has grown now to include girls and students from 38 states and 22 foreign countries. Our philosophy remains the same. Our students travel to many countries and states to be here. I am appreciative of the learning bridge they form between cultures and ideas that can only be known by a landis most precious resource, its children. The year has brought joys and challenges. We have resisted in- tolerance, impatience, rigidity, tunnel vision, and other flaws that could have weakened our true dedication to one another and our faith in each other. I have seen the personal growth that we have achieved through our supportive understanding of each other. My wife, Barbara, and I hope that each and every one of you will honor the sign on our front door that says: Welcome, come in! Have a wonderful birthday year!
