The initial assembly each year is on Constitution Day, September 17, followed by wildly contrasting pep meetings. After one of these, who has any voice left for the football games? After the game, everyone flocks to the school to socialize at Open House. The climax of the football season comes with the Jordan-Columbus game. Excitement begins to mount at the bonfire the night before the game and fills the air all day long, but it increases as the cars are decorated for the parade. The procession starts—this year with Jordan at the head and the foot —for there’s one lonely Red Jacket following all that blue and gold! Of course, important as the parade is, the game is still the high point of the day. This year our 34-0 victory clinches the Bi-City Crown for the second consecutive year. Everyone welcomes the relief of Thanksgiving holidays, but after this brief respite we go back to the old grind. Then, after a mad rush of parties, concerts, and assembly programs, it’s Christmas! Ah! At last we can relax! But not for long, for we start the New Year off right with science projects, book reports, perfect copies, and term themes. There are always special activities going on, too. The Valen- tine Dance, the Military Ball, and the Searchlight Tattoo are just a few. Spring holidays mark the beginning of Senior activities. Kid Day sends the whole class into a second childhood. The Senior Picnic and Class Day are crowded into that last hectic week before that wonderful day—Graduation. Well, that’s a year of tradition at Jordan, but through it all there pervades an intangible thing called Jordan Spirit. 5
