HOMIE IZCONOMICS This ioursc' consists of clothing, textiles, and rc-lated arts. Garment planning and construc- tion in relation to the needs and ability of the students compose the major part of this course. In addition, such topics as developing personality, importance of an attractive appear- ance, and study of fabrics are also stressed. The family living course is open to both boys and girls. It covers a study of the family as a unit, the values, patterns, functions, and priv- ilc-gc-s of people in their family, acceptance and care of children and many other things. Meal planning, marketing, preparing and serv- ing food for various income levels are stressed in the foods course, In the picture at the right are: Mrs. Mabel Rogers, Miss Pauline Martin, and Mrs. Charleen Varner. IZNGLISH AND SPEECH This department consists of English, where gram- mar, composition, literature, spelling, and word study are taught, journalism, which offers oppor- tunity to the student to develop skills in writing various news form, and speech and debate, which are planned to help the student gain poise and self-confidence, and to master the technique of spealcing before an audience.
