ELLIOTT .S'1zperir1len.de1Lt of Joplin Schools m i The completion of the new stadium at junge Field marks the latest step in a large modernizing program inaugurated in the Joplin school system several years ago. Out of this movement have come the modern- ization of our elementary school buildings, three new junior high schools, a new modern cafeteria at the senior high school. and finally, the stadium. -lunge Field with its stadium is developing into a very important civic center, and is filling a long-felt need for a place to hold large outdoor events. At the dedication ceremonies musical organizations from all over the district contributed to the program, and helped to make that one of the finest gatherings in the history of Joplin schools. The junior and elementary schools also feel the stadium theirs, where they may hold any large events they wish to plan. In this connection a great outdoor music festival in which the entire school system will partici- pate has been planned, to be held at the stadium this spring. It is our hope to make joplin an athletic center for the tri-state district. Numerous track events, including a tri-state meet, have been planned for the spring. lt is desirable that the people of Joplin think of the stadium and ath letic field as their property, and that any activity whose purpose is the betterment of the -loplin schools may be held there.
