Self-expression stressed in fine and industrial arts E r B 1 Ia f - w The Art Department, headed by Mrs. Sue James, grows in size and accomplishment each year. Stu- dents learn to express themselves through such things as painting, sketching, lettering, ceramics, pottery making and gardening. Mrs. James holds a B. F. A. from the Univer- sity of Georgia and sponsors the Art Club. In her spare time Mrs. James enjoys cooking, reading, gardening, and painting. Mr. Felix King teaches Industrial Arts, including mechanical drawing and woodwork. Mr. King holds a B. S. from Florence State. He has also done grad- uate work at Auburn University. Mr. King enjoys working in his church, where he is a Deacon. He also enjoys working in his shop at home and fishing. A 27

Home Ec shows girls how to build a happy home. Mrs. Linda Neill, a newcomer to Jones Valley this year, teaches clothing and Family Living. Mrs. Neill is also very b sy with her outstanding Y-Teen club. She is a graduate of Auburn University. Other than cooking and sewing, she enjoys all sports such as golf, tennis and skiing. Playing a large role in the great hospitality at J . V. to visitors is Mrs. Hazel Parker who always manages to prepare delicious refresh- ments no matter what the occasion. Mrs. Parker holds a B.S. from Alabama College, and outside her cooking and sewing classes she enjoys reading and knitting. 26

Parlez-vous espanol? Holding an A. B. from Samford Univer- sity, Mrs. Dianne R. Johnson is welcomed as Jones Valley ' s newest French teacher. She also teaches sophomore English. Along with her busy schedule, Mrs. Johnson spon- sors the school bank. She enjoys reading, sewing, swimming, going to plays and movies, traveling, and playing the piano and flute. Mrs. Sharon Richardson, who received a B.A. from the University of Alabama, teaches Spanish and junior English. Mrs. Richardson enjoys all types of sports and reading. 28
