School Activities , . This year the Student Council was re- sponsible for two very worthwhile additions to the school. The first of these was the book exchange which provided s t u d e nt s with a chance to save moneyon their books and to supply money for a scholarship fund for UC students. The second innovation was Twirp Season, held February 10-l8. The girl-ask-boy season was ended with the annual Sadie Hawkins dance. Among the council's regular activities were the sponsoring of many of the year's social events, including Homecoming, the fall formal, the Christmas mixer, and sev- eral after-game mixers. The group also took charge of keeping the s m o ke r a n d lounge neat. For the enjoym SDI of the members, Student Council sponsored ahay- rack ride in October. To plan for these projects, the Council met weekly in the lounge. The Tuesday morning meetings included a business ses- sion and breakfast. Student Council is made up of 10 in- district and 3 out-of-district r e pr e se n t- atives which are elected by the s t u d e n t body, representatives from each of the col- lege's organizations, and all of the class officers. lt takes three Student Council members, Jerry Willey, Bob Querio, and Henry Azuma, to figure out how much to charge Meg Bennett for a book, while Jack Tanton waits his turn patiently. One of the most important of the Student Council committees is the Social Council. This year's group included Pat Smith, Mary A nn Harrison, Joyce Speckman, and Peter Maitland. Mr. Bondar was the sponsor. ov'- feels! 'E
