Zeofcabbn volume to Mr. Roscoe Harris. gn 7p!0I'QCICbbl2 Q Zeacon JIQIYVQS I sincerely and humbly appreciate the honor and recognition bestowed on me by the very kind and generous students and staff of J.C. I-I.S. ' As you dedicate the Student, Faculty and Board of Education Annual to me, you do honor to thirty years of long hours and hard labor and the everlasting loyalty and devo- tion to honest toil. My four sons and daughters were graduated with honors from this High School. Large credit for their success, obviously, goes to this institution. My friends andlneighbors and their children and grandchildren have, in like manner, attended or graduated from this school. I hope in a small and humble way I have been a lamplighter to these mul- titude of boys and girls - young men and women who have over these thirty years con- tributed somuch to our city, state and nation by way of their friendliness, their courte- sies and their fine services. It was these personalities who walked up and down the corridors of this institution who have given direction and action to my life. Because they lived I have lived. Because they looked forward to a better day I too was inspired for a better day. The memories of the events of these thousands of young people who have dedicated themselves to ed- ucation and to our good American way of life shall forever remain with me. I sincerely hope that when I leave these class rooms, these corridors and beautiful grounds, and all the many people - students, teachers and board members alike, that you too in your memories still remember Deacon. As I wish for all Godspeed, will you kindly utter with me Payne's little prayer. Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam: Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home. Roscoe, better known to us as Deacon will retire at the end of his thirtieth year of service to our school We, the Redskin Staff of 1959, wish to express our gratitude and heartfelt appreciation by dedicating this
