The Patriotic Convocation was held on February 22 and the Easter Convoca- tion was held April 7. On September 3, 1965 the Class of '69 was initiated into high school by the Senior class The seniors began the day by making up” the freshmen. After school the stooges were paraded through town. This was followed by a Kangeroo Court and sentencing. As mem- bers of the high school, the freshmen were guests of the seniors at an all high school supper and dance. Ido??? HOMECOMING On October 22, the 1965 Homecoming festivities were held. A beautiful, fall evening formed the setting for the 48-7 Eagle win over the Peru Prep Bobkittens. At half-time the coronation ceremonies were performed. Five senior football players escorted Queen Luan Swanson and her attendants Mary Ann Speckmann, senior; Shirley Eggers, junior; Sue Swanson, sophomore; and Denise Rademacher, freshman; to their seats of honor at the side of the field. Dinner at Robbies. SNEAK DAT Early April 1, 32 seniors and their sponsors, Mrs. Gertrude Taylor and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hahn, left on a Greyhound Bus for a Sneak Day in Topeka, Kansas. The day's activities included a tour at the American Yearbook Company, where the class saw how their own yearbook is put together. Other tours were taken at the Kansas Historical Society, The Frito-Lay Company, and Washburn University. The high point at Wash- burn was a visit to the planetarium where the class and sponsors viewed the stars. I'm NOT Sad!!! gonna cry! ! 1966 ACTIVITIES BANQUET On May 13, 1966 the annual Johnson High School Activities Banquet was held in the old gym. Reigning over the event was Queen Roxanne Hoffman and King Bruce Williamson. The Queen's crown was presented by Bruce Williamson, J-Club President and the King's crown was presented by Linda Rathbone, Pep Club President. The main speaker for the evening was Jack Payne, Sports Editor for WOW T.V. Awards were presented for vocal and instrumental music, football, basketball, volley- ball, and track. The theme of the banquet was A Year of Rewards. In line with the theme were dis- plays of 1965-66 trophies and special awards, and musical, football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, and track gear and equipment. Above the raised throne of the Royalty was a large Eagle emblem, symbol of Johnson High School. Rose buds, red and white candles, and red and white nut cups decorated the tables. The dinner was prepared and served by the Band Parents. JUNIOR-SENIOR In the Misty Moonlight was the theme of the 1966 Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom which was held May 6. The banquet was held in the old gym. On the west wall of the old gym was a picture of a boy and girl surrounded by roses and the words, In the Misty Moonlight, which depicted the PROM theme BANQUET AND The setting for the Prom was an outdoor scene with a sprinkling fountain, lawn chair, and a picket fence with roses and grass. A yellow moon rested above the scene with light and dark blue crepe paper twisted gently to form a back- ground for the scene. Gold and silver stars drifted from the lights. Gold letters formed the theme. A trellis inside the doorway was covered with crepe paper and roses. The Noblemen from Lincoln played at the dance.
