ADMINISTRATION THE PRESIDENT ' S MESSAGE Our task here is to train free men and women in a free society to the end that they may take their places in that society, possessed of a high de- gree of civic consciousness, able to respond to the challenges of leader- ship, and equipped to lead the Good Life. Thus, Johnson C. Smith Uni- versity is a place, an atmosphere and a tradition in Christian higher educa- tion. We want it to remain a place where the freedom to teach and the freedom to learn are carefully main- tained.
