Improving the schools was the job ofthe seven member School Board of the Tyler Public Schools. One ofthehnprovmhenwinadeatJohn Tyler was the erection of the covered walk-way, by the student parking lot. Another improvement was the authonzauonforthebuHdingof a new Agricultural building. Along with making improvements, the Board carned onitsregularjob ofhinng faculty, adopting new textbooks, and setdngschoolpohcy. LLLIS The job of being assistant prin- cipal required many hours of hard work and a lot of patience and understanding. lVlr. Alvin Anderson and lVlr. Clifford Baker served as the assistant principals to the student body at John Tyler. Keeping students out of hallways, handling disciplinary actions, working with attendance records, and taking charge of distributing textbooks were just a few of the many tasks they were involved with. They also served as super- visors of the construction of the hard surfacing of the road and the building of the new park- ing facility. Far Left: lVlr.
