B AND Brenda llnllmnrk, Fred Noilt-y, Joyce Gruhhs, and Wally Smith are only 21 few of the students from Mrs. Youngs sixth period English class who are selecting I1 book to read for their English assignment. Mrs. Young's class is visiting the library during their regular English period. This procedure is n new one at john Tyler this year and is proving to be very successful and very helpful to the students. P4 AR iz., In the unper right picture in Mrs. Bakers XVorld-Geography class, Janet Wilkerson, Ann Easley, and Bill White are busy taking notes on their seminar reports. This type of report requires the student to do outside re- search on a country and then report his findings to the class. The picture at the left is one of Mrs. Baker's World History classes. Here Joe Mc- Reynolds, Freddy Sawyer, and jean Seaten are reading an issue of their current events magazine which each student is required to subscribe to. Nancv Coddle and Pamela Baker are among the few in the picture at the bottom left who are getting a World History assignment. On the bulletin board is some extra information which Mrs. Baker supplied for the students interest when they were studying Abraham Lincoln. These extra things, the students think, make the subject more interesting. 27 A

READING ROOM In the upper right picture Butch Radford, Wayne Rainey, and jerry Parsons are relaxing in reading room after a hard day at school. Jerry seems to be lost in a magazine while Butch and Wayne discuss the news in the newspaper. In the picture at the right Kenneth Daley, Priscilla Davis, and Elaine Heath are very busy getting their assignments for the following day. They have all learned -aff ,fi ....,.-4' the value of having at least one read- ing room period. In the picture at the left Lynn Warren, Bobby Walttmn, and Gilbert Weston are a few of the ones in the reading room who have learned the sooner they complete their homework, the sooner they can enjoy reading magazines, old annuals, and the daily newspaper. The stu- dents can also visit the library and check out books to read. 29
