- 'H' -1' TO THE MEMBERS OF THE GRAD- E'EN'1' ' UATING CLASS OE THE TYLER SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL: The destructive war has come to an endy but it has left the whole world tired, hungry, and sick. How- ever, the bright star that led the shepherds two thousand years ago to Bethlehem is still shining: and it is pointing the way for peace on earth and for happiness to all who will follow the principles proclaimed by the Prince of Peace. All of the troubles of nations as well as of individuals are directly or indirect- ly due to selfishness and greed. These traits must be eradicated from the hearts of men and rnust be re- placed with understanding and con- sideration and tolerance for those of every race and creed before last- ing peace and joy can come to the world. The destiny of the human race lies in the hands of the youth of the world, particularly in the hands of the youth of America, for the task of bringing about this brotherhood among nations is yours: and it will challenge all of the best powers and skills you possess. As you go out of the public schools to broader fields of endeavor, l commend to you the practice of the Golden Rule, Do unto others as you would have them do to you, as the way to brotherhood and peace. . Very sincerely yours, ,ww Superintendent of Schools l cherish the privilege of congratulat- ing young men and women upon the school for this event truly marks a turning point in life. No matter how many times you may graduate here- after, this is the commencement sea- son which will be most vividly and fondly remembered. You graduate at a crucial moment in world history. The age of atomic energy, of radar, of jet propulsion and of one world is eminent, many new problems and opportunities confront you. It is good to live in such a time, which will require the keenest mental and physical accomplishment, for in such effort you attain your optimum personal development. occasion of their graduation from high ,tk ,.. , Best wishes! As the citizens of Tyler enter the post war period, the school board is making preparations for better building facilities to meet the needs of an increasing popula- tion. A curriculum, broadened by the addition of new vocational courses, looks forward towards training the student body ade- quately for good citizenship.
