C. S. F. The California Scholarship Ifederation is an outstanding organization of -Iohn Swett. To become a member .1 student must earn ten semester grade points, i-Vs counting three and IS's one. Miss Iisthcr Coles is the adviser of the organivation, and the officers are as follows: President, Harold Culpg vice president. Marilyn Cralleg secretary. Ruth I.aird. CSI5 members have one Ditch Day each semester. at which time thev go on a trip to places of interest. Money for these trips is raised by the sale of ice cream during the noon hour. The purpose of the GLA is to foster friendly relations among all the girls. Some of its activities are the Vice Versa Dance. the Hi-Jinx, and a rally program. Otlicers are the following: president. BAND The first semester the advanced band and the beginners' band were under the direction of Nlr. Larson. The band's first public appearance was at the Freshman Frolicsn assembly program. and the group has provided musical numbers for several rallies. The band teacher for the second semester was Mr. Curtis. Under his direction Ll dance band was organized, and it is hoped that this organization will be able to play for many informal student dances and programs in the future. The first public appearance of the organization was during an assembly of the student body. ln November the chorus sang at the performance of the Senior play. In December the group was invited to sing Christmas carols .lt a meeting of the Crockett XVomen's Club. On December 22, six girls sang Christmas carols in the C. and H. Refinery lobby. and .1 few members participated in the annual Crockett Christmas operetta. CHORUS
