A native of Forth Worth, Texas, he served as the ship's secretary from May 30, 1986 until his untime- ly death due to a heart attack on March 24, 1987. A dedicated sailor and cherished friend to all, he was 33. While onboard, he earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist cutlasses, and was decorat- ed with the Navy Achievement Medal.
