OS ' s call Combat Information Center (CIC) home. In GIG they coordinate the gathering, processing, evaluation, and dis- semination of information from all available sensors, which include the surface and air search radars, lookouts, and tactical data link. When all this information is collated it is then broadcast to ship ' s in company via the Naval Tactical Data System (NTDS). Controlling aircraft, tracking contacts on NTDS consoles, employing radio telephone circuits, and plotting on navigational charts are some of the routine duties of the OS ' s. They are also integral members of the ship ' s NGFS plotting team. Through their vigilance and accuracy we were assured of always firing at the correct place at the proper time.
