NAVIGATION ADMIN Navigation Administration Officer Lieutenant Henrico P. Nivera Lieutenant Ni era enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1985 and completed the Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training Pro- gram (BOOST). He graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1990 and was commissioned through the Na al Resene Officer Training Program (NROTC). After completing the Surface Warfare Division Officer Course in Coronado. California, he reported to USS SACRAMENTO (AOE 1) while deployed to the Arabian Gulf in Januarj ' 1991 during OPERATIONS DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM. While assigned to SACRAMENTO. Lieutenant Nivera served as Communications Officer. Second Division Officer and Boilers Officer. He earned his Surface Warfare Officer designation and qualified as Engineering Officer of the Watch for a 600 psi steam plant. He completed his tour on S. CRAMENTO after returning from OPERATIONS RESTORE HOPE and SOUTHERN WATCH. In June 1994. Lieutenant Nivera reported to USS JOHN PAUL JONES (DDG-53) as Navigation Administrative Officer. His awards include the Navy Achievement Medal. Navy Unit Commendation. Meritorious Unit Commendation. National Defense Ser ice Medal. Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. Southwest Asia Ser ice Medal and the Kuwaiti Liberation Medal. Lieutenant Nivera is married to the former Judith M. Lamaria of Baguio. Philippines. They reside in San Diego.
