ENGINEERING Chief Ensineer Lieutenant Thomas J. Breed Lieutenant Breed is a native of Chillicothe. Illinois, and enlisted in the Navy in 1977 as an Electronics Technician and Reactor Opera- tor. After ser% ing on USS GUITARRO i SSX 665 1, he was awarded an XROTC scholarship and attended the University of Missouri- Columbia. He then reported to USS CALLAGH.AN ( DDG 994) as Main Propulsion Assistant. He is the son of Elsie E. and Clarence I. Breed. In 1991. Lieutenant Breed was ordered to the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey. California, where he earned a Masters of Science in .Applied Science (.Anti Submarine Warfare). In 1993 he was ordered to Surface Warfare Department Head School in Newport. Rhode Island. Follow ing graduation in 1994 he attended .AEGIS training and assumed his present duties as Chief Engineer on USS JOHN P.ALL JONES I DDG 53 1. Lieutenant Breed ' s awards include the Na y Commendation .Medal. Nav .Achievement .Medal. Good Conduct Medal. National Defense Ser ice Medal. Battle E Ribbon, and vainous sen. ice awards.
