OPERATIONS Operations Officer Lieutenant Kerry S. Gilpin Lieutenant Gilpin was bom in Denver, Colorado on July 1. 1963. He graduated Yale University with a Bachelor Degree in Economics and Political Science in 1985 and was commissioned in 1986 upon completion of Officer Candidate School, Newport, Rhode Island. Sea tours have included Communications Officer, Damage Control Assistant, and Assistant Operations Officer aboard USS JOHN KING (DDG 3) and Missile Officer aboard USS JOUETT (CG 29). Lieutenant Gilpin earned his Master ' s Degree in National Security Affairs at The Naval Postgraduate School. Monterey. California in 1993. On August 19, 1994, Lieutenant Gilpm reported for duty as Operations Officer aboard USS JOHN PAUL JONES (DDG 53) in San Diego, California. Lieutenant Gilpin ' s personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal and Navy Achievement Medal. Lieutenant Gilpin is married to the former Deborah Lee Furman of Lexington, Massachusetts. The Gilpins reside in San Diego, California.
