EVANS lDE-l l3l, USS JEFFERS lDMS-27l and USS WALKER lDDE-5l7l. Other assign- ments include duty as a member of the Staff of the .loint American Military Advisory Group, duty in the office of the Secretary of the Navy, duty as Special Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Research and Development, duty on the Joint Staff of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Chief of Staff and Aide to Commander Cruiser-Destroyer Flotilla Four and CTF-l90. Captain Smith also commanded Mine Squadron FOUR, Destroyer Division 322 and the Atlantic Fleet ASW Tactical School.

EXECUTIVE OFFICER LCDR RENTZ was graduated from the Naval Academy in l95I. He has served aboard the USS ALBANY ICA-l23I, USS BLUEBIRD IMSC-I2lI, USS INTREPID ICVA-III and USS DAVIS IDD-937I. LCDR RENTZ is a graduate of the US Naval Postgraduate School in I957, US Naval War College and George Washington University where he received his Master Degree in International Affairs. LCDR RENTZ resides with his wife and three children in Lake Shores, Virginia Beach, Virginia.
