EXECUTIVE OFFICER LCDR RENTZ was graduated from the Naval Academy in l95I. He has served aboard the USS ALBANY ICA-l23I, USS BLUEBIRD IMSC-I2lI, USS INTREPID ICVA-III and USS DAVIS IDD-937I. LCDR RENTZ is a graduate of the US Naval Postgraduate School in I957, US Naval War College and George Washington University where he received his Master Degree in International Affairs. LCDR RENTZ resides with his wife and three children in Lake Shores, Virginia Beach, Virginia.

EXECUTIVE OFFICER Commander Thomas W. McNAMARA, U. S. Navy, Executive Officer of the JOHN PAUL JONES, was born in Wilkes-Barie, Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy and 'Lehigh University and has served in the Amphibious Force, Mine Force and Cruiser-Destroyer Force, Pacific Fleet. His last duty in the Pacific was as operations officer on the destroyer Floyd B. PARKS. Following that tour, Commander McNAMARA served in the Bureau of Naval Personnel. Prior to report- ing to the JOHN PAUL JONES as Executive Officer on 25 July 1962, he graduated from the Naval War College, Command and Staff course.

SMITH, Commander Destroyer Squadron 36, attended John Tarleton College, the University of Texas and was commis- sioned Ensign in l94l after attending midshipmen' school, Northwestern University. , - C He served in the USS ARCTURUS lAKA-ll, USS HYDROGRAPHER QAGC- 3l and commanded the USS PC-777, USS PCE-877, USS CLARENCE L. EVANS lDE-l l3l, USS JEFFERS lDMS-27l and USS WALKER lDDE-5l7l. Other assign- ments include duty as a member of the Staff of the .loint American Military Advisory Group, duty in the office of the Secretary of the Navy, duty as Special Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Research and Development, duty on the Joint Staff of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Chief of Staff and Aide to Commander Cruiser-Destroyer Flotilla Four and CTF-l90. Captain Smith also commanded Mine Squadron FOUR, Destroyer Division 322 and the Atlantic Fleet ASW Tactical School.
