POWER FOR THE PEOPLE— Student stood and applauded after Rev. Jackson's speech. Mr. Sam Tidmore, General Manager of Hough Development, joins in. “Rap On,” Rev. Jackson A few days before the election of Cleveland's new mayor, Reverend Jesse Jackson spoke before an overflowing audience in the 4 school's auditorium. It was an inspiring speech heard on October 29, and when he concluded with his emotional appeal of What Time Is It ?, he received a standing ovation. This fearless leader stressed black pride as well as black progress. He said, I'm not talking about Nation's time, I'm talking about What Time It Is In Your Mind? Reverend Jackson reminded the students to insist that their parents vote in the coming election. He recommended Arnold Pinkney, as the man who could help solve Cleveland's problems. When Mayor Stokes was elected we had black pride, and to carry it on further we need another black man like Arnold Pinkney to help us to get black progress. Student participation was evident at this special called assembly. Rev. Jackson stood back, waved his hands and asked his young followers to repeat, I'm Somebody. 20 OLD FRIENDS TALKING IT OVER—Rev. Jackson and Congressman Stokes.
