CHOIR REHEARSES FOR OPEN HOUSE—Blended voices are heard everywhere when Mr. William Wood's group get together. 700 Parents Gather to Observe Open House, 1971 Approximately 700 parents and guests filled the auditorium October 26, 1971 to witness John Hay's annual Open House program. The program's timely theme was Education Now. Education Now, is the business of the entire community. The future business of all students depend upon the extent to which the parents, the pupils, the faculty, and the community leaders function as a team to achieve the school's educational goals. The program began at 7:30, with class visitation starting at 8:00. Members of the PTSA, headed by Mrs. Elizabeth Brownlee, and the Adult Boosters Club, presided by Mrs. Earl Douthitt, helped in the initial planning of the Open House affair. Displays, exhibits and demonstrations highlighted this gala affair. TALKING IT OVER-Mrs. Blackburn explains office methods to Mr. C Mrs. William Harris. DEMONSTRATING SKILLS arc performed by Sandra jg Toney, Mary Williams and Maria Chester.

Homecoming An Unforgetable Memory Homecoming is an annual event sponsored by the Student Council. Homecoming 1971 was held October 16, with the crowning of the new queen. Climaxing the affair was a dance held at the Red Carpet Lounge. The dance was well attended and everyone had a right to celebrate because the Hornets beat East High, 21-16. 17
