Corridor Guard Directors Helping to keep the halls clean and assisting students is only a port of the volunteer services that the corridor guards perform. Welcoming visitors ond directing them to the office is another duty. The Corridor guards hold their general discussion meetings twice a semester to receive instructions from the director of corridor guards. At assembly programs and Open House they help direct traffic to various rooms where exhibits are held. Guards prevent loitering in the halls and they protect students' property by seeing that locker doors are locked. They collect money for the activity tickets and distribute the John Hay Ledger. The money collected from the activity tickets is used to support the Ledger and to help the athletic department. Committee members start the year's work by distributing questionnaires to seniors who fill in the list of activities and state their preference for class motto, class flower, and class colors. The yearlong job is under way. Then the Hoy Ride Committee turns to writing copy for all organizations, drawing up senior panels, making up, and finally pasting up dummies for printing. After that comes proof-reading of copy and at last early in March the book is off to the printer and binder. Art classes work under the direction of Mrs. Helen Chudoba, art instructor, to make the incidental drawings in the book. Hay Ride Foil Elmira McCalla ........................... When assemblies call for musical entertainment, the Girls' Glee Club is always ready to oblige. You do not have to have a perfect voice to join the Glee Club but must be able to carry a tune. Music is a means of expressing one's feelings. Learning to keep the correct key and to sing the right notes is a difficult task, but the girls find that practice brings success. 49 Stagocraftcrs Hear that sound of wood being sawed and scenery being nailed down in the auditorium? The hard-working stagecrafters are up to something again. No assembly or play would be possible without the stagecrafters. Headed by Mr. Emanuel Gebauer, this group's duties are many. They include keeping tab of all props, making stage sets, giving the actors proper lighting for plays, and setting up the risers for graduation ceremonies.
