E-2. DIVISION Electrician Mate QEMJ, Hull Technician QHTQ, and Machinery Repair CMRJ rates are assigned to E-2 division and are called upon to repair equip- ment throughout the ship. EM's perform both preventive and corrective maintenance on the ship's electrical equipment such as lighting and ventilation systems, electrical power distribution switchboards, generators, and numerous smaller pieces of equipment such as galley griddles and ovens. HT's perform tasks necessary for fabrication installation and repair of hull structures, plumb- ing and piping systems. In addition to the weld- ing and metal work skills, HT's are the ship experts in all areas of Damage Control. They maintain all DC equipment and train the crew in the proper procedures of firefighting, flooding control, and Chemical, Biological, and Radiation QCBRJ defense.
