CS-2 DIVISIGN The Anit-Submarine warfare division is a small, elite group of Sonar Technicians and Tor- pedomen who are responsible for operating and maintaining the sophisticated ANXSQS-56 So- nar, associated electronic equipment, and the handling, stowage and maintenance of the MK- 46 torpedoes and launching equipment. They most often are found in the dark recesses behind CIC, standing an alert watch for their silent, sub- merged adversary of listening to the porpoise or whales, and often can be seen in their natural habitat adjacent to the torpedo tubes doing regu- lar PMS on the torpedoes and tubes. Many of their hours are spent caring for the NIXIE tor- pedo countermeasures equipment, or monitoring and reporting the temperatures below the ocean's surface with the Expendable Bathythermograph. Their day to day work is often routine andw wif sometime boring, but they patiently wait for the day or night when the IMC sends out the mes- sage Now set condition HAS.
