Alyce mamana We, the Annual Staff of 1967 would like to honor Mrs. Alyce Mariana. Mrs. Mariana came to John Glenn three years ago. She teaches English and English Literature. She was sponsor of the Future Teachers club and was this years senior sponsor. In November of 1965, Mrs. Mariana fell and broke her hip. She was told that she would be con- fined to a wheel chair for six months, but this didn't seem to dampen her spirits. A month later the students and teachers at John Glenn saw Mrs. Mariana returning to our campus to teach from her wheelchair. She still managed to teach four of her five classes. Everyone was happy to see the day when Mrs. Mariana returned to school without the aid of her wheelchair, and then in January of 1967 she was injured again when she fell in her classroom. Mrs. Mariana was greatly missed by everyone at Glenn during her months of absence. We wish to let Mrs. Mariana know that the students and teachers admire and appreciate her for her dedication as a teacher. MR. JIM ANGOTTI . . .. ' 0 . ' v MR. If we had his literary talent, we would change the contents of four of his famous books and write our history. A Synopsis of Our Four Years 1963-1964 The Gathering Storm -- Freshmen with problems and problem freshmen. 1964-1965 Closing the Ring -- Departure of 50 members to Gahr. Group effort in raising funds for Prom and Senior gift. 1965-1966 Their Finest Hour -- Junior-Senior Prom 1966-1967 Hinge of Fate -- Work, Marriage, College, Viet Nam SENTIME NTAL FACULTY REF LE CTIONS Class of 67 will always wonder -- If Mr. Fahrner will ever finish writing all his books. If Mr. Culver ever had a third sneeze so he could go home. If Mr. Ewing had a caterpillar on his face. If Mrs. Mariana would kill Hamlet in the first act so that the seniors would not have to spend so much time on it. If Mr. Merino ever got a tie clasp to replace the paper clip. If Mrs. Peterson would ever learn enough English to teach it. If Mr. Jablan is still saying, to some degree, social butterflies, phenomenon. . . If Mr. Jessup ever learned to pronounce those weird diseases. If Mrs. Haky still falls over the speedway ball during her demonstration. If. Mr. Conley's red tie and socks were connected. If the situation with Mr. Larson's debate reports would ever be a better E If the library would ever be anymore than a Showplace. Predictions of Top Ten Classmates Ten Years From Now Karolyn Norville - Selling used Beatle records 8: mod clothing in Liverpool. Bill Larson - Conservative Leader of Planned Parenthood. Joyce Harris - Studying genetics and raising a big family. Susan Hosoda - Petal pusher. Christine Doney - Teaching Hamlet to seniors using several quotations. Robert Adams - Head Accountant for Norwalk Infernal Revenue Department. Beverly Brown - A swinging, singing Hun. Patti Vane - Jolly silent giant. Charles Ford - Writing science fiction and Tarzan series for Playboy. Cynthia Compton - Wife of the Chief of Police. COMMENCEMENT During the freshman year of the class of 67, a moment of shock and dispair reverberated throughout the world at the assassination of our thirty-seventh president, John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Now at the end of our four years we are again motivated by his youthful inspiration. The following quotation from President Kennedy's Inaugural Address seems especially apropos at the end of our four years. NOW THE TRUMPET SUMMONS US AGAlN---NOT AS A CALL TO BEAR ARMS, THOUGH ARMS WE NEED---BUT A CALL TO BEAR THE BURDEN OF A LONG TWILIGHT STRUGGLE , YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT, 'REJOICING 1N HOPE, PATIENT IN TRIBULATION' ---A STRUGGLE AGAINST THE COMMON ENE- MLES OF MAN: TYRANNY, POVERTY, DISEASE AND WAR ITSELF. 55 ACUVIUGS j HOWDY DANC E 58 COOL HEAD ASSEMBLY One Act plays w w .c-y ;0 k v MR9; , V , i m :1 x V 25 - CHRISTMAS PROGRAM 1v ; v'w.
