gfdddug Qogund 'R Q --Yrs When the school year opened, Kennedy's Student Council was more than ready to handle their responsibilities. Their theme for the year was Get Involved . It was a sincere invitation for students from all corners of the campus to participate in activities. The council had just returned from Summer Leadership Camp at UC Santa Barbara full of pride and new skills. ltwas atthis camp that they won first place for their Olympic Sam the Eagle !Mr. Irish T-shirt logo. The Student Council had 7 returning members which certainly became an advantage on the planning of the annual Spirit and Irish weeks. A change was seen in the style of Homecoming as Conlettes and the Queen of Hearts backdrop took the place of the usual float. Many students took part in major school improvement and development committees. Students were involved ln the School Accreditation Committee, the Student Advisory Committee, the School Site Council, and the PTSA Board. Since this was the first year we put into action these various commit- tees, students participation was greatly appreciated. The Winter Formal at Old World and the Jr.fSr. Prom was also a huge success. All considered, the ASB saw the difference that the student activities and involvement play at Kennedy High School. and excitement abounded as the a part of the Shamrock Regiment, played during assemblies, football games, and parades. The new director, Mr. Gravett, Drum Major, Mark Lush, and all the members of the Regiment worked hard to produce their musical numbers. They got up early to attend daily seven AM practices and weekend perform- ances. This year at the Silverado Days Parade they won the Sweepstakes Award, which is awarded to the band that ives the best overall performance. The hamrock Regiment, consisting of the band, colorguard, and drillteam, won not only the Sweepstakes Award but also the Best Music Award. lt was a victorious day for the Kennedy people! It not only proved that the Shamrock Regiment is number one, but also that their music has the sound of spirit. Photographs: 2.
