' ! :sm LP' ' ' ..- N l a talent show . . . a smoker . . and home we left jamaica on sunday evening and headed north back to guantanamo and the final phases of the shakedown cruise. back in gitmo, we staged a talent show and boxing smoker in the hangar bay. shakedown had gone well. for a new ship commissioned and put to sea in record time, and with more than half of the crew inexperienced, kennedy had come through with flying colors the weeks of general quarters at the pier in newport news had paid off. then heading north again, we left the tropical caribbean and sailed up the coast into the cold waters of the atlantic. TWU' A dependents cruise L X, post shakedown availability lasted from december 16 to february 15. then, with some 700 dependents aboard, kennedy moved to pier 12 with a detour to cape henry for the dependents' benefit. vvives, children and parents climbed about the ship to get a close look at our environment. they ate, watched the marines drill and filled the flight deck and island to see flight ops.
