jr vacation in the caribbean on nov. 4, after a calm trip down the u.s. coast, the first shore patrol t68I'TlS fTIUStGrGd kennedy steamed into guantanamo bay. and gitmo turned out to be a recreational paradise. rear admiral crawford, commander of guantanamo naval navy personnel and their dependents stationed ashore staion, came aboard to inspect the marines and pay a visit. went out of their way to see that kennedy crewmen kennedy's closed circuit television station, wjfk, enjoyed therrselves on liberty. clubs made special became a full time operation with news, weather, sports, arrangements, and diversions such as archery, movies, and kennedy's own version of huntley and brinkley. golf, horseback riding, swimming pools and beaches on arrival, liberty boats were lowered for the first time were readily available. the atmosphere seemed to belie into foreign waters. what we knew lay across the fence in communist cuba X
