Varsity goes all out Coaching the Varsity Hoopsters is the very dependable RON CRAIG. 1970-1971 VARSITY BASKETBALL JON CHANCE MIKE HOLMAN BRAIN ASH LARRY KING DOUG ANDERSON JIM GAI LBRAITH BRAIN MC COY BRUCE HOGUE GREG SCHUPP MIKE CARTER JOHN NICHOLS to play the game VARSITY BA SKETBA LL The 1970-71 Varsity Basketball Team is not packed with Big Men but they are packed with spirit. The team is led by the only Senior on the team, MIKE HOLMAN. Mike is an outstanding shooter and rebounder. He has a very good chance of making the all-league team. Junior Standout JON CHANCE is also trying to carry the load of the team. He is a great competitor and an all around Sportsman. Other starters on the team are BRIAN ASH, JIM GAILBRAITH, and LARRY KING. Gailbraith and King are sophomores and they are big. King is a good shooter 8a rebounder but is towered over by other centers in our league. Gail- braith is a tough and physical player. BRIAN ASH is a junior and a good ball handler and shooter. Other members of the team are DOUG ANDER- SON., MIKE CARTER, GREG SCHUPP, BRUCE HOGUE, and JOHN NICHOLS. In non-league play this year our team showed power in defeating teams such as Paramount, West Torrance, and LeSalle. During Christmas they entered the Hawthorne tournament and finished in Fifth place. In the Pioneer tournament they finished in forth place losing out on winning third place by one point. In league play they haven,t done very goodwbut in every game. In is the toughest in Valley with their and Pasadena are we have been in there fighting the eyes ofemany, our league California. We have Cresenta smallest starter at 6'3 . Blair rated in the top 20 in the CIF. the rest ofthe schools are all very strong. With out team fighting all the way we should win our share of games. 1 The manager of the team is TONY VECCHEAR- ELLI, and assistant manager is BILL MILNER.
