They gave the annual spring concert on May eighteenth. Auditorium Session, a new boogie-Woogie number, added extra pep to the program. A sub-division,' of the hand is the trumpet quartet, which played at Gillette Hospital for an afternoon dur- ing the Christmas holidays. The Johnson High School Band is a marching band, too, If you listen care- fully during first period, you can hear the beat of the drums and the majorette's shrill whistle as the band marches up and down the streets. In recognition of their ability, they were invited to lead the Fire Prevention Parade downtown last fall. In previous years all the rehearsals took place in the gym, but this year the annex has been used. As it is separated from the rest of the school, unwelcome interrup- tions are avoided. GIRLS' CLUB The Girls' Club, under the advisership of Miss Moore, first sponsored the Sno- Ball Dance which turned out such a big success that it is now an annual event. This group has two meetings a month- one a business meeting, the other, a pro- gram meeting at which they serve refresh- ments and play games. Ar the beginning of t..'e year, the Girls' Club holds a party for all new sophomore girls to get them acquainted with the school. The Girls' Club was the first club in the city to start collecting magazines for the servicemen,s canteen. MTI' - , Jzppzn 7-Alger!! Page sixlyeone Front Row: R. Anderson, R. Skaar, J. Ricci, F. Some of their many activities are the selling of Student Council pencils and J buttons, helping to keep the cafeteria in order, assisting with the 6th War Loan Drive, sponsoring Sunlight dances, and participating in assemblies. They organized a new project of stu- dent government in the study halls. This is to give the students a chance to be self-reliant and independent and thus show that they can take care of them- selves. Schuette, Adviser. Tucci, Baden, Skaar, B. Engebretson M. Carl n, L. Sophs, Juniors, and Seniors have one jolly time purchasing the so-called utreasuredl' books. During mid-year changes the book- store was moved from its original place, Miss Moore's office, to Miss Daily's room, 102. To be a member of Student Council is quite an honor for any student. If you aren't a member of the Socac- wog club, you undoubtedly wonder what its name means. Well, to enlighten you -it's the Social Activities of Working Girls. It is newly organized this year, and it really has started out with a bang! The girls meet during Home Room period on tht days of assembly in Room 215. They are under the guidance of Miss Moore. The officers are Pat Eggert, President, Jean Stack, Vice Presidentg Dorothy Nichols, Secretary, and Mary Ann Wol- finger, Treasurer. Thty started out their social events with a pow-wow at Kaposia Park this fall. ,February was a busy month for them. They had a pop-corn ball sale to raise money, and a Valentine's Day dance. Making Red Cross scrap books that are of interest to servicemen is their latest project Sometimes we wondered why there should be two clubs whose purposes are so much alilce. Now we find that the reason for it is that so many of the members coulcln,t attend that assembly-home-room period. And so, the Socacwogs came into being to take care of the second assembly.
