September 9, the beginning of the 70-71 school year, Scotters were greeted by an absence of teachers from classrooms. A strike by Toledo Teachers over salary and contract agreements, the first week of school posed a hectic problem as far as management was concerned. Several days when student attendance was near normal, confusion reigned because of incomplete sched- ule changes and an insufficient number of staff members to man individual classrooms. LOCAL 250 AR 00 Of TEACHERS APT LOCAL 250 AR CIO Mixed feeling on part of teachers were seen as settlement talks dragged on and then were discontinued. Envoking of the Ferguson Act ended the strike as such, while it was promised that the talks would be continued. Since then there has been a small monetary compensation for the teachers but nothing specific concerning the contract agreement.
