WM Busy at a day ' s work .... Time out for consultation But always a bright smile. A TRIBUTE TO AN EDUCATOR; COUNSELOR; FRIEND We hope all Scotters will unite with us in paying tribute to Mrs. Gracie M. Stewart, who has lona been a distinguished member of our administration. Mrs. Stewart attended Brighton High School in Alabama where she was in the National Honor So- ciety and Valedictorian of her class. Majoring in mathematics with minors in English and Physical Science, she graduated from Toledo University hav- ing earned a Bachelors Degree in Education, and later obtaining a Master ' s Degree in Guidance and Counseling. She taught mathematics for six years at Scott, served as Department Chairman one year, as counselor for the past 6 years, and for the past two years has been Assistant Principal in charge of Counseling. Because of her sincere interest in helping youth, Mrs. Stewart has been a valuable person to students seeking college counseling, course instruction or just plain old everyday advice. She is an Upward Bound Co-ordinator, on the Y.W.C.A. Board of Directors and a Co-chairman advisor to the Y-Teens, Math Club, and National Honor Society. Mrs. Stewart is also undoubtedly a very loyal and active Bulldog . Whether it be in taking charge of a bake sale, wearing spirit tags, or equal- ing the enthusiasm of any student at a football game. She is a person the students can relate to and feel comfortable with and we are proud she is one of us. Scottonian Staff Mrs. Gracie M. Stewart There is always time to assist with a bake sale. 10

Deep concentartion . Mr. Flute Rice shows that you can do two things at one time. 4 a little laughter . . . For the past three years a great deal of school spirit and pride has been generated at Jesup W. Scott High School. We are in the process of creating a new image of this school. In creating a new image, we are weaving pictures of Scott just as various patterns of stars weave pictures in the heavens. Patterns of stars represents unity, beauty, purity, and high stand- ards. The new picture of Jesup W. Scott High School that has begun to take shape represents unity, beauty, and high standards. Flute Rice, Principal and sincerity is a must to carry out a good job. 12
