Fore word Deeply rooted on the Scott front campus is a grove of towering trees which hold within their rings two records of growth- theirs and ours. Legend tells us that in re- spect to the request of the original owner of our school land who planted the grove and built the driveway to circle it to his front entrance, the architects who laid plans for the construction of Scott High School in 1912 left these leaf-mantled lords of yesteryear and today to stand silently and gracefully on our campus through the years. Chief among these trees, which contribute greatly to the tradition of the beauty of Scott High School, is the copper beech at the northern end of the campus. If these trees could speak, what tales they could relate! They have observed Scott traditions take form in athletic rivalries, superior scholastic attainment, democratic student government, journalistic achieve- ment in yearbook and newspaper publica- tions, and innumerable extracurricular clubs that provide ways of expression for the tal- ents and interests of youth. That they may be given voice for 1956 the SCOTTONIAN speaks for them and as their oracle records in word and picture for students and friends of Scott one more ring of growth in nature and the attainments of Scott's youth. x ' - . ,Q qi , Q f JAX , . 1 1 Ulf '7 ,f It ,X K 'X ix-f ,V 4 - SNR L' 'L ' ly' y Y x , -L M72 x X kfx V uf' h . if xv af N X M2 ' ., L.,,'J lf Q ' . ff ,fl Y 1 V V XX -ef'-f .
