Assistant Principal-Activities As director of extracurricular student activities, Mr. Ralph Merickel applies the technique of pre- cision characteristic of a skillful personnel director in coordinating the events of the school calendar with the scholastic program. Direction of student assemblies, scheduling of committee and club meet- This has been Miss Vera Baymiller's first year in the recently created administrative position of Counsellor of lnstruction. Added to her former duty of administering, grading, and recording test results included in the established testing program of the school and the analysis of test results for the students and teachers are the varied duties of ings, preparation of the school calendar, and counselling the Student Council and the Senior Class are chief among Mr. Merickel's many duties. Mr. Alberstett looks over his work. Known to all Scott boys for justice, fair- ness, and understanding he employs in coun- selling those who need his helpful guidance is Mr. Vernon R. Alberstett. Punctual, regular attendance is his goal for every boy. However, the firmness of his Thou must is tempered by the perennial fun-loving interest he takes in student life and the merry laugh that denotes his sense of humor. A loyal supporter of Scott activities, he is never too busy to attend athletic contests, school plays, and student dances. Assistant Principal- Counsellor oi Boys Assistant Principal- Counsellor oi Girls A friend to all Scott girls is Miss Florence Petersen, whose depth of understanding and cordial, sympathetic guidance characterize the personal interest she takes in every girl's individual need. Counselling girls concerning their attendance and scholastic achievement and innumerable conferences with parents, teachers, and social agencies fill her busy days. Teacher and student alike sense her gracious readiness to assist where the need arises and the ease with which she helps knotty prob- lems roll smoothly into their proper solutions. Miss Petersen discusses a problem with Tanya Abbott.

She also assists students to confer with visiting college representatives and tirelessly seeks to acquaint ambitious students withe scholarships available for those who wish to qualify. Alert and ever enthusiastic, Miss Longbrake is known for her wise guidance in college choice and personal interest in the college-entrance problems of indi- vidual students. lllliee Per ennel Statistics, finance, supplies, and office manage- ment essential to the education of over I500 high- school students are capably directed by the well- trained personnel that comprises Scott's office staff. Teachers and students are ever grateful for the friendly assistance they receive in the Scott office. Mrs. Marian Masell, head clerk, serves as secretary to the principal. Mrs. Lydia Gilhooley, attendance clerk: Mrs. Margaret Husbands, school treasurer: Miss Eleanor Martin, book clerk: Miss Mariann McKarus, record clerk, serve in the office.
