Q- -i... Mr. R. J. Langstaff Principal On behalf of our faculty and student body I would express to the Scolfonian staff our appreciation of their efforts in preparing our I955 yearbook. To select and to preserve for memories the best of a school year is an interesting and challenging task. They have performed this task well. Our yearbook begins with the pictures of individualsg it ends with the pic- tures of groups. Such is the order of our growth within our school and within our society. Few of us would ever be satisfied with only the pictures of ourselves as individuals. The development of individual capacities must always be com- pleted by the contributing and merging of individual abilities in group action. Our deepest pride in Scott is based upon the pictures it presents of indi- viduals of different races, nationalities, creeds, and abilities-planning, coop- erating, and working together in groups for common purposes. l wish our world could do as well. Mr. Alberstett looks over his work. Known to all Scott boys for justice, fair- ness, and understanding he employs in coun- selling those who need his helpful guidance is Mr. Vernon R. Alberstett. Punctual, regular attendance is his goal for every boy. However, the firmness of his Thou must is tempered by the perennial fun-loving interest he takes in student life and the merry laugh that denotes his sense of humor. A loyal supporter of Scott activities, he is never too busy to attend athletic contests, school plays, and student dances. Assistant Principal- Counsellor oi Boys Assistant Principal- Counsellor oi Girls A friend to all Scott girls is Miss Florence Petersen, whose depth of understanding and cordial, sympathetic guidance characterize the personal interest she takes in every girl's individual need. Counselling girls concerning their attendance and scholastic achievement and innumerable conferences with parents, teachers, and social agencies fill her busy days. Teacher and student alike sense her gracious readiness to assist where the need arises and the ease with which she helps knotty prob- lems roll smoothly into their proper solutions. Miss Petersen discusses a problem with Tanya Abbott.
