- l HEAD FOOTBALL coach Jerry Dadey talks strategy with line coach Mr. Patrick Kenny, S.J., prior to the closing of the 1959 season. Mr. Dadey, who is also head basketball coach, will surrender command ofthe football squad to Mr. John Allen next year to devote himself exclusively to basketball. Mr. Kenny who coached JV football will leave for theology at the end ofthe year. UPSET OF YEAR a total at 8l7 yards and an average of 6.l yards per carry. Matteri, who was the leading Jesuit scorer with 42 points, gained 600 yards and an average of 5.0 yards per carry. Humble compiled the best average however, with an average of 6.4 yards per carry. This group of scatbacks was strongly supported by such outstanding line- men as Tom Duff, Joe Hallman, Bob Senko, and Bruce Moore. The Crusaders climaxed the season by up- setting league-leading Sandy in their last game, 'I9-l3. This game certainly was a symbol of an excellent.lesuit team, a team of surprises, thrills, and exploits, and above all, a team ot spirit and determination. JV'S TOP WILCO LEAGUE rw , E . T was a banner season for the Jesuit High iunior varsity football team, which, under the tutorship of coach Allen, emerged with the i959 WILCO LEAGUE JV crown as well as a 6 win l tie record. After having been momentarily slowed by a 13-13 deadlock with North Catholic in their season opener, the junior Crusaders went on to make shambles of the WILCO LEAGUE JV teams. Throughout their seven game season, the Crusaders were sparked by the yeoman line play of their center, Thompson, three fine guards, Owens, Stoffel, and Malenski, and tackles Carty and Ander- son. Their fine passing game was .centered around ends Claridge, Marks, Nyssan',gand Murowski. In the backfield, quarterback Don Oderman led a bevy of potent runners l in fullback Dooley and halfbacks McLean and Carr.
