- l HEAD FOOTBALL coach Jerry Dadey talks strategy with line coach Mr. Patrick Kenny, S.J., prior to the closing of the 1959 season. Mr. Dadey, who is also head basketball coach, will surrender command ofthe football squad to Mr. John Allen next year to devote himself exclusively to basketball. Mr. Kenny who coached JV football will leave for theology at the end ofthe year. UPSET OF YEAR a total at 8l7 yards and an average of 6.l yards per carry. Matteri, who was the leading Jesuit scorer with 42 points, gained 600 yards and an average of 5.0 yards per carry. Humble compiled the best average however, with an average of 6.4 yards per carry. This group of scatbacks was strongly supported by such outstanding line- men as Tom Duff, Joe Hallman, Bob Senko, and Bruce Moore. The Crusaders climaxed the season by up- setting league-leading Sandy in their last game, 'I9-l3. This game certainly was a symbol of an excellent.lesuit team, a team of surprises, thrills, and exploits, and above all, a team ot spirit and determination. Tabbed to finish in seventh place in the Wilco League, the hard-working Crusaders finished in second place behind co-champions Sandy and Parkrose. 1 After suffering a setback at the hands of cross-town rival Central Catholic, Jesuit won four out of the next 5 games.
